When it comes to luxury skin care creams, Estee Lauder's La Mer is typically the first brand that comes to mind. Who needs a trip to the spa, when your body lotion can give you the same effect as a seaweed wrap? La Mer's Body Crème is an ultra-rich moisturizer that provides long-lasting hydration for dry skin. The unique formula contains La Mer's Miracle Broth™ that contains an exclusive Micro-Algae Complex. The lotion is rich in hyaluronic acid, which attracts and captures moisture throughout the day, and it also has a Blue Algae Life Ferment™ to help restore a healthy, supple, radiant complexion and diminish the appearance of minor discolorations.
You can purchase La Mer's Body Lotion in department stores or online at www.cremedelamer.com for $220 (10 ounce jar) or $150 (6.7 ounce tube).
We give La Mer’s Body Crème a B+ because it is a great moisturizer for certain types of skin if you can afford it. While it isn’t necessarily any better than a cheaper lotion like CeraVe, it does contain some good ingredients that drugstore brands do not (ie. antioxidants). We only suggest buying the tube (not the jar) and do not suggest this lotion if you have sensitive skin since it contains fragrance.
Pros
Cons
La Mer's Body Crème has received good feedback from customers on Makeupalley.com (4.4/5 out of 41 reviews) and on Reviews.cremedelamer.com (4.9/5 out of 44 reviews). La Mer's brand definitely has a certain mystique to it. Back in her P. Diddy days, I heard a rumor that Jennifer Lopez practically bathed in the Body Crème, which is decadent beyond imagination considering the exorbitant cost. The Body Crème also has fans at Neiman Marcus (NM Beauty Award Winner Spring 2011) and at Allure (Best of Beauty 2010, 2008, and 2007), but is it really worth it? It's a great moisturizer, but it's probably not worth $150+ unless you have money like J.Lo.
